Our family kennel name is
Doron, which was permanently registered with the CKC in 1947. There are
three generations, which include my grandparents, Jack & Dorothy Anderson
of Calgary, Alberta; my parents, Ron & Sherry Anderson, late of Calgary and
now from Sidney, British Columbia; and now, me, also late of Calgary and now in
Sidney, B.C. Breeding, training and showing dogs is something that all three
generations have done for fun and recreation, with a focus on producing quality
dogs, competitive in both the conformation and obedience rings. I hope to add a
section to this site in the future that will feature some of the Doron bred
dogs from the past.
Dobermans are not the only breed which we have had
over the years, although they have been a central theme with all three
generations. My grandparents were best known for their dobes, while my parents
have been breeding Norwegian Elkhounds since the early 80's. I came back to
dobes in 1998 with the acquisition of Am/Can Ch. Maxidobes Dream Maker -
"Drummer" after we had been out of the breed since 1989. Drummer was supposed
to be a red bitch, which is what I hoped for when Hugh Middleditch bred his
beautiful Multi BIS Ch. Hearthfire's August Dream - "Lucy" to BISS Ch. Soquel's
Distant Thunder, WAC. Alas, it was an all male litter, but Drummer was the
result and I've never regretted it - other than when I'm cleaning up yet
another "nuked" couch cushion or trying to talk on the phone while he is loudly
expressing his disapproval of same! I also have a Drummer daughter, namely
Am/Can Ch. PennyLane's Bewitched WAC - "Sammy" who has a page on this site.
I added Gracie, a 3 and 1/2 year old retired racing greyhound from
Kansas City, to the household in April 2004. She has fit in well with the dobes
and is thoroughly enjoying her new life of leisure!
I moved to Vancouver
Island in 1999 and have lived here ever since. It makes travelling to dog shows
a bit more of a challenge but the lifestyle more than makes up for the time
spent on ferries! |
